Stoned Oil Cowhide Side-Tan
This leather has a deep richness because it has been treated with oils, waxes and dyes in such a way that when the leather is pulled or stretched, the finish becomes lighter in the stretched areas. That gives an "Old World" effect or "Aged" look. The color returns when heat is applied or friction from rubbing a cloth or your hand in that area. This is considered a mark of high quality. This durable leather is perfect for chaps, purses, moccasins, saddle strings, tie straps, lining for tack and much more. 4 to 4.5 oz. weight.
This leather is priced by the square foot (sq. ft.) and sold in the exact form we receive from the tannery (side, hide, skin, split, belly, etc).
We make ordering leather easy by providing a dropdown box (EST QTY) underneath the pricing which contains multiples of the estimated size of this product. When you place an order for this product, you will be given a cost approximation (in your shopping cart) based on the EST QTY you selected, multiplied by the price per sq. ft. (Your Price). After your product has been picked, this cost approximation will be adjusted to reflect the actual size (as measured and marked on the piece(s) by the tannery), multiplied by the price per sq. ft. Your final charge will be for the actual size of the product, not the approximation.
Colors
We have done our best to display as accurately as possible the colors of the products shown on the Site. However:
1) because the colors you see will depend on your monitor, we cannot guarantee that your monitor's display of any color will be accurate.
2) colors may vary due to differences in dye lots. Always order extra if color consistency is critical to your project.
Conversion from Yardage to Sq. Ft.
As mentioned above, leather is measured in square feet (sq. ft.), but some patterns call for a certain number of yards. Use the examples below as guidelines to convert the yards into sq. ft.:
The pattern calls for 3 yards of 36" fabric.
Use a conversion factor of 9:
3 x 9 = 27
Add 20% 6
Total...33 sq. ft. needed.
